Tour suggestion by Conradin Cramer
We asked a number of local personalities to name the venues and events they will be visiting during the Kunsttage Basel. The fifth tour suggestion comes from district president of Basel-Stadt, Conradin Cramer.
My first Art Days tour starts in the immediate vicinity of the town hall, in the premises of the art book publisher BOLO Publishing on Spalenberg. The publishing house is run by the Basel artist duo Admir Jahic and Comenius Roethlisberger. They are offering the two young artists Cassidy Toner and Kaspar Ludwig carte blanche. The show is a preview of what we can discover next year at the Kunstmuseum Gegenwart, as Cassidy Toner will be on display there as the Manor Art Prize winner.
We continue with two gallery visits: On Elisabethenstrasse, the well-known gallerist Gisèle Linder will be showing something surprising – a colourful mix of very different works to celebrate her 40th anniversary in Basel. Also not to be missed is the internationally successful Swiss gallery Hauser & Wirth, which now has a Basel branch on Luftgässlein.
Finally, I recommend a trip to the cantonal sponsorship studios in the Klingentalkirche on the Kasernenareal, where you can really feel the pulse of the regional art scene.
I am already looking forward to in person encounters with inspiring artists from our region.
