Basel's art treasures: discover and find them on foot - A programme for children aged 7 to 11

There is much art to discover in Basel's public spaces! Have you noticed the artworks yourself, or has your child pointed them out to you? The ART TREASURE HUNT is returning for a third round with new artworks.

On this guided walk, we’ll take time to closely observe a selection of artworks. Our treasure map will lead us along the Rhine, then to Claraplatz, and finally across the river by ferry toward the Münster. The treasure hunt ends in the courtyard of the Kunstmuseum. Together, we’ll follow the map to locate the marked artworks, uncover clues, and solve fun tasks as a team.

This walk is perfect for explorers, collectors, treasure hunters, art enthusiasts, and even so-called "art ignoramuses." Prefer to hunt for treasure on your own? No problem! We offer a Do it Yourself kit, which can also be picked up at the info point.

The ART TREASURE HUNT is designed for children (primarily without parents) aged 7-11 years and takes place in German or Swiss German. (Is your child a bit younger or older and still interested? Write to us at anmeldung[at]kunsttagebasel.ch.) The treasure hunt lasts about 2 hours on foot. Participation is free, and registration is binding.

The walk starts at the info point inside of the kHaus on Unterer Rheinweg and ends in the courtyard of the Kunstmuseum Basel. The ART TREASURE HUNT is conducted by Myrta Brunner and accompanied by another art mediator.

We discover the art treasures in all weather conditions. Children are requested to wear weather-appropriate clothing. Bringing a water bottle is not strictly necessary (spoiler alert!). At the beginning of the tour, every child receives a bag they can keep.
