On 29 August from 11:00, Kunsttage Basel, Kunstmuseum Basel, Museum Tinguely, and Theaterfestival Basel warmly invite you to join the free Super Saturday.

All participating institutions will host special events, including performances, concerts, and a vibrant afterparty. Let’s gather all together!

11:00 am: Artist Talk with Marc Bauer, Event Foyer, Kunstmuseum Basel | Hauptbau

Artist Marc Bauer will discuss the concept and development of his art installation Fear Rage Desire, Still Standing (2026) in conversation with Anita Haldemann, Head of the Department of Prints and Drawings, and Len Schaller, co-curator of The First Homosexuals. The artist talk will take place in the Event Foyer and will be followed by an apéritif.

2:30 pm: Performance Zahra Hakim, at kHaus Plaza

Hakim presents a contemporary reinterpretation of Nazri, a deeply rooted Iranian tradition that expresses gratitude through selfless giving. In this participatory performance, food is understood not merely as nourishment but as a medium for creating a shared experience. Visitors are invited to complete the work by adding the final layers to the dishes on offer. (Duration: 1 hour. Free admission, no registration required.)

 

4:00 pm: Make Your Body Your Machine – Performance by and with Ernestyna Orlowska, at Museum Tinguely

A woman on a kick scooter, the Rocky soundtrack, a delivery backpack: what follows is part dance, part fight, part fitness training. In her performance, Ernestyna Orlowska reflects on the body within the gig economy, where it becomes an appendage of an app and an exploitative business model. Her sportswear and the slogan “Just Eat” expose the obsession with self-optimisation—as if eating, achieving and being beautiful were that simple. Orlowska also poses the question: do we have a body, or are we one? (Duration: 20 minutes. Free admission, no registration required.)

6:00 pm: Factory Hopping: What's cooking?

Six hours, six studios, six apéros. Meet the artists, meet new people, expect the unexpected. Factory Hopping is a tribute to art and the social dimension. Together we move from studio to studio. Locations can be found here. The first studio will be announced the day before, the others one hour in advance. One's company, two's a crowd, and three's a party. Drop in and out whenever you like. The event is curated by Benedikt Wyss and co-produced by Kunsttage Basel.

7:00 pm: Miet Warlop – One Song, Main Stage, Theater Basel

One song, one concert, one sporting event. Twelve performers turn the theatre into an arena and perform the song of their lives. Somewhere between ritual and endurance test, they push themselves to their physical and mental limits, cheered on by the audience as if at the Olympics. The competition becomes a metaphor for our times, ultimately revealing a longing for community above all else. With One Song, Miet Warlop has created a festival highlight that has elicited the same reactions ever since its premiere in Avignon: euphoria, amazement and thunderous applause. “A primal rock-infused cry bursting with joy, energy and humour.” — De Standaard. 8:00 pm: YARD with Rui Ho & Souped (Irie Qiwen Cao), Courtyard, Kunstmuseum Basel | Hauptbau

The DJ sets of RUI HO, at once weighty and playful, have attracted attention across the European experimental underground scene as well as in China. From 7:00 pm, Souped (Irie Qiwen Cao), also from Shanghai, blends experimental dub and emo-punk with raw bass-heavy sounds. (Background music from 6:00 pm onwards)

23:00–04:00 Super Saturday After Party at Bar Renée

Still not ready to call it a night? The Super Saturday continues into the early hours at Bar Renée, with a small but exceptional afterparty including a whisper floor at the Theaterfestival festival center in the courtyard of the Kaserne.

kHaus promotes exchange, synergies, interactions and encounters – within the building with our users, organisers and visitors, but also on the grounds, in the lively neighbourhood, with neighbours and interested parties in the city and beyond. We are committed to creating a space with multiple uses, where people can try things out and experiment, where we can constructively engage with political and social issues.

During Kunsttage, kHaus serves as the info point for the entire event and other offerings on site.
