Tour Suggestion by Stefanie Proksch-Weilguni

We asked various art world figures which places they plan to visit during Kunsttage Basel. The sixth tour suggestion comes from Stefanie Proksch-Weilguni, Head of Kunstkredit and Commissioner for Project and Programme Funding in Visual Arts.
With my tour, I want to focus on Basel-based artists. A great starting point is the Open Studios at Atelierhaus Klingental on the Kasernenareal. Since 2020, this new support programme with 30 cantonal studios has established itself there. Once a year, the artists open their practice to the public. The heritage-protected spaces of the old Dominican church are an architectural highlight in their own right.
Next, we head to Space25. This art space dedicated to regional artistic practice celebrates its fifth anniversary with a Summer Exhibition featuring 57 Basel-based artists.
Crossing the Rhine, Kulturstiftung Basel H. Geiger | KBH.G presents a retrospective of the important Basel artist Irène Zurkinden. It offers a wonderful art-historical insight into Basel's 20th-century art scene. The exhibition also includes a special opportunity to see the 1962 tapestry design for the wedding hall of the civil registry office, from the Kunstkredit collection.
My tour ends with a visit to Artstübli. This platform for experimental art projects, in collaboration with the Atelier Mondial residency programme, demonstrates the international exchange that enriches our local scene.
